Tianyu Chen is a PhD candidate in public administration and policy and a graduate student fellow at the Center for Data Science at American University. His research interests include public and nonprofit management, data science, machine learning, and natural language processing.

His works have been published in Voluntas: International Journal of Voluntary and Nonprofit Organizations and Urban Institute. He is currently working on his dissertation “Uncovering Nonprofit Resilience: Online Communication Strategies During Turbulent Times.”
